This is just my proposal for an evolution system for this site (it's partially based off of an old Pokemon site that I was a moderator for). It revolves heavily around the use of the shop. I will divide this section up depending on the type of evolution. The bolded text states how each particular evolution works in the games, and the words beneath them explain how that evolution will work on this site.
Evolution by Level Up:
This type of evolution is induced by what is called a Super Rare Candy, which can be purchased at the Store. A Super Rare Candy can only be used once, and will only induce one evolution per Pokemon. For example, if a Super Rare Candy is used on a Bulbasaur, it will evolve into an Ivysaur, but in order for Ivysaur to evolve into Venusaur, you will need to purchase, and use another Super Rare Candy on it.
Evolution by Stone:
An example of this evolution would be a Staryu evolving to Starmie through use of a Water Stone. All evolution stones can be purchased at the Store, and are used in the same way as the games. All Stones can only be used once, and will disappear afterwards.
Evolution by Trade (no held item):
An example of this evolution would be the evolution of Haunter to Gengar. Like a leveling up evolution, this evolution is also induced by a Super Rare Candy. All you need to do is purchase a Super Rare Candy from the shop and use it on your Haunter for example, and you will have yourself a new Gengar! See the first section for further explanation on Super Rare Candies
Evolution by Trade (with a held item):
An example of this evolution would be a Scyther evolving to Scizor after being traded while holding a Metal Coat. For this site, held items will be used in the same way as Evolution Stones. For example, all you need to do is purchase a Metal Coat from the store, and that's all you will need to do to evolve your Scyther into a Scizor. Unlike in the games, no trading will be necessary here.
Evolution by Level Up (with a held item):
An example of this evolution would be a Gligar evolving into Gliscor while holding the Razor Fang. The items in these cases will be used, much like Evolution Stones, and you do not need to do anything more than purchase them from the Store in order to evolve your Pokemon with them. In addition, any game-based restrictions to this evolution which are based on the time of the day, do not apply.
Evolution by Friendship/Happiness:
This type of evolution is induced by use of a Soothe Bell which can be purchased at the Store. However, unlike in the games, you do not need to have your Pokemon hold it for an extended period of time and wait for it to evolve. Once you have purchased the Soothe Bell, you can simply use it to, say make an Eevee, evolve into an Espeon, in the same way that you would use a Water Stone to make that same Eevee evolve into a Vaporeon.
Evolution after Learning a Certain Move:
The following Pokemon evolve after they learn a certain move:
-Aipom
-Bonsly
-Lickitung
-Mime Jr.
-Piloswine
-Tangela
-Yanma
For each of these Pokemon, you need to purchase an Evolution Move from the Store (which would be Double Hit for Aipom, Mimic for Mime Jr. etc.). This is similar to purchasing a TM.
Evolution in a Certain Location:
An example of this would be Nosepass evolving into Probopass on Mt. Coronet (in the games). This is one of the few evolution types which doesn't involve the shop. Like in the games, these types of Pokemon need to be trained in a certain location in order to evolve. The evolutions and locations are as follows:
Eevee to Leafeon- Schrepnet Jungle
Eevee to Glaceon- Venrate Path
Nosepass to Probopass- Reef Desert
Magneton to Magnezone- Howling Caves
Other Evolutions:
These evolutions do not fall under the above categories, and will be explained here
Female Burmy to Wormadam: Use a Super Rare Candy to evolve Burmy, and you may chose which type combination your Wormadam will receive, irrelevant of any game based factors
Mantyke to Mantine: This evolution will be the same as in the games, where Mantyke will evolve if you have a Remoraid in your party
Feebas to Milotic: Use a Super Rare Candy to evolve Feebas
Nincada to Ninjask/Shedinja: Use a Super Rare Candy to evolve Nincada, and Shedinja will appear in your party if it has at least on available slot (5 or less Pokemon)
Tyrogue to Hitmonchan/lee/top: Use a Super Rare Candy to evolve Burmy, and you may chose which Pokemon your Tyrogue evolves into, irrelevant of any game based factors
Wurmple to Silcoon/Cascoon: Use a Super Rare Candy to evolve Wurmple, and you may chose which Pokemon your Wurmple evolves into, irrelevant of any game based factors
